ReelClaw by DansUGC

Viral UGC ads, edited by your coding agent

Install the DansUGC MCP and the ReelClaw skill in Claude Code, Codex or any agent. It reads your repo, picks real human reactions from 5,000+ DansUGC clips, writes the hooks, edits with TikTok-native templates on your machine and checks every frame itself.

  • Edits and renders on your machine
  • Browser login, no API key
  • Any DansUGC account

Works in

  • Claude Code
  • Codex
  • OpenCode
  • Kimi Code
  • Cursor
  • Gemini CLI
  • + any MCP client
claude · ~/studyplan

Example ReelClaw session in Claude Code: the agent reads the repo, writes a brief, suggests a proven viral format, checks the account, finds real creator reactions, writes hooks, quotes 33 creditsfor 3 new reactions and waits for a yes, edits and renders 5 reels on this machine, checks the frames, and saves 5 ads.

Illustrative session. Your agent always shows the real price before it buys a clip.

Install

Two halves, about a minute

Your agent needs both: the DansUGC MCP for the clips and the ReelClaw skill for the editing. Pick your agent, paste a couple of lines, log in to DansUGC in the browser. No API key. Any DansUGC account works, no plan needed.

DansUGC MCP

The clips

Connects your agent to DansUGC: the clip library, purchases, viral formats, trending sounds, research, posting and your teams.

ReelClaw skill

The editing

Teaches your agent to edit on your machine: the brief, hooks, reaction choice, HyperFrames templates and the frame-by-frame QA loop.

The plugin

Installs both in one step, in Claude Code and Codex. Other agents add them one by one.

One plugin installs both halves: the DansUGC MCP server and the ReelClaw skill, plus the /reelclaw:new command.

  1. 1

    Install the plugin

    Type these inside a Claude Code session.

    claude code
    /plugin marketplace add dansugc/reelclaw
    /plugin install reelclaw@dansugc
  2. 2

    Log in to DansUGC

    Run /mcp, select plugin:reelclaw:dansugc and choose Authenticate. Log in with your DansUGC account in the browser tab that opens.

  3. 3

    Ask for ads

    Open your product's repo and ask. Your agent shows you the brief, the hooks and the price of any new clip before it buys anything, then edits and renders the reels on your machine.

    prompt
    Make 3 UGC ads for this app with DansUGC ReelClaw. Use the demo in ./demo.mp4.

Or use the slash command

  • /reelclaw:new 10 ./demo.mp4 gen-z, deadpanCount, demo and direction, all optional

Add the server and the skill separately. Same result as the plugin, without the slash command.

  1. 1

    Add the server

    Run this in your terminal.

    terminal
    claude mcp add --transport http dansugc https://dansugc.com/mcp
  2. 2

    Log in

    In Claude Code run /mcp, select dansugc and choose Authenticate.

  3. 3

    Add the ReelClaw skill

    This is what teaches your agent to edit: the brief, hooks, reaction choice, the HyperFrames templates and the frame-by-frame QA loop. Installs into this project; add -g for all of them.

    terminal
    npx skills add dansugc/reelclaw/plugins/reelclaw/skills/reelclaw -a claude-code -y
  4. 4

    Ask for ads

    Open your product's repo and ask. Your agent shows you the brief, the hooks and the price of any new clip before it buys anything, then edits and renders the reels on your machine.

    prompt
    Make 3 UGC ads for this app with DansUGC ReelClaw. Use the demo in ./demo.mp4.

claude.ai and Claude Desktop can't run ffmpeg or HyperFrames on your machine, so they don't edit reels. Connect DansUGC there to search, preview, buy and research clips, and edit in Claude Code.

  1. 1

    Add a custom connector

    Go to Customize → Connectors → Add custom connector. Name it DansUGC and paste this URL.

    connector url
    https://dansugc.com/mcp
  2. 2

    Log in

    Connect it and log in with your DansUGC account when the login window opens.

  3. 3

    Find clips

    Ask for reactions in plain words. Buying always shows the total first.

    prompt
    Find 5 shocked Gen Z reaction clips on DansUGC for a study app and show me the previews.

The Codex plugin bundles the same ReelClaw skill and DansUGC MCP server.

  1. 1

    Install the plugin and log in

    Run these in your terminal. codex mcp login dansugc opens the browser so you can log in to your DansUGC account.

    terminal
    codex plugin marketplace add dansugc/reelclaw
    codex plugin add reelclaw@dansugc
    codex mcp login dansugc
  2. 2

    Ask for ads

    Open your product's repo and ask. Your agent shows you the brief, the hooks and the price of any new clip before it buys anything, then edits and renders the reels on your machine.

    codex
    $reelclaw Make 3 UGC ads for this app. Use the demo in ./demo.mp4.

Start a new Codex session after installing. Invoke the skill with $reelclaw, or just ask.

No plugin system? A small POSIX sh script copies the skill into ~/.agents/skills/reelclaw and adds the dansugc MCP server if it isn't configured yet. Safe to run twice.

  1. 1

    Run the installer, then log in

    In your terminal. No sudo needed.

    terminal
    curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/dansugc/reelclaw/main/codex/install.sh | sh
    codex mcp login dansugc
  2. 2

    Ask for ads

    Open your product's repo and ask. Your agent shows you the brief, the hooks and the price of any new clip before it buys anything, then edits and renders the reels on your machine.

    codex
    $reelclaw Make 3 UGC ads for this app. Use the demo in ./demo.mp4.

Add DansUGC as a remote MCP server in OpenCode, log in once, and add the ReelClaw skill.

  1. 1

    Add the server

    In opencode.json at your project root, or ~/.config/opencode/opencode.json for every project.

    opencode.json
    {
      "$schema": "https://opencode.ai/config.json",
      "mcp": {
        "dansugc": {
          "type": "remote",
          "url": "https://dansugc.com/mcp",
          "enabled": true
        }
      }
    }
  2. 2

    Log in

    OpenCode starts the browser login the first time it connects. To log in by hand, run:

    terminal
    opencode mcp auth dansugc
  3. 3

    Add the ReelClaw skill

    This is what teaches your agent to edit: the brief, hooks, reaction choice, the HyperFrames templates and the frame-by-frame QA loop. Installs into this project; add -g for all of them.

    terminal
    npx skills add dansugc/reelclaw/plugins/reelclaw/skills/reelclaw -a opencode -y
  4. 4

Add DansUGC to Kimi Code CLI's MCP config, log in from a session, and add the ReelClaw skill.

  1. 1

    Add the server

    In .kimi-code/mcp.json in your project, or ~/.kimi-code/mcp.json for every project.

    mcp.json
    {
      "mcpServers": {
        "dansugc": { "url": "https://dansugc.com/mcp" }
      }
    }
  2. 2

    Log in

    Inside a Kimi Code session. A browser opens for your DansUGC login; /mcp shows the status.

    kimi code
    /mcp-config login dansugc
  3. 3

    Add the ReelClaw skill

    This is what teaches your agent to edit: the brief, hooks, reaction choice, the HyperFrames templates and the frame-by-frame QA loop. Installs into this project; add -g for all of them.

    terminal
    npx skills add dansugc/reelclaw/plugins/reelclaw/skills/reelclaw -a kimi-code-cli -y
  4. 4

Add DansUGC to Cursor's MCP config. Cursor logs in with OAuth, so there is no key to paste.

  1. 1

    Add the server

    In .cursor/mcp.json in your project, or ~/.cursor/mcp.json for every project.

    mcp.json
    {
      "mcpServers": {
        "dansugc": { "url": "https://dansugc.com/mcp" }
      }
    }
  2. 2

    Log in with your DansUGC account when Cursor opens the browser. Using the Cursor CLI? Run:

    terminal
    agent mcp login dansugc
  3. 3

    Add the ReelClaw skill

    This is what teaches your agent to edit: the brief, hooks, reaction choice, the HyperFrames templates and the frame-by-frame QA loop. Installs into this project; add -g for all of them.

    terminal
    npx skills add dansugc/reelclaw/plugins/reelclaw/skills/reelclaw -a cursor -y
  4. 4

    Ask for ads

    Open your product's repo and ask. Your agent shows you the brief, the hooks and the price of any new clip before it buys anything, then edits and renders the reels on your machine.

    prompt

Add DansUGC to Gemini CLI, log in once in the browser, and add the ReelClaw skill.

  1. 1

    Add the server

    Adds it to this project; add -s user for every project.

    terminal
    gemini mcp add --transport http dansugc https://dansugc.com/mcp
  2. 2

    Log in

    Gemini CLI starts the browser login on first use. To log in again, type this in a session. It needs a local browser, so it won't work over a headless SSH session.

    gemini
    /mcp auth dansugc
  3. 3

    Add the ReelClaw skill

    This is what teaches your agent to edit: the brief, hooks, reaction choice, the HyperFrames templates and the frame-by-frame QA loop. Installs into this project; add -g for all of them.

    terminal
    npx skills add dansugc/reelclaw/plugins/reelclaw/skills/reelclaw -a gemini-cli -y

    prompt
    Make 3 UGC ads for this app with DansUGC ReelClaw. Use the demo in ./demo.mp4.

Use DansUGC from GitHub Copilot's agent mode in VS Code.

  1. 1

    Add the server

    In .vscode/mcp.json, or run MCP: Add Server → HTTP from the Command Palette. The key is servers, not mcpServers.

    .vscode/mcp.json
    {
      "servers": {
        "dansugc": {
          "type": "http",
          "url": "https://dansugc.com/mcp"
        }
      }
    }
  2. 2

    Log in

    VS Code opens a browser for your DansUGC login the first time it connects. You can sign out from the Accounts menu.

  3. 3

    Add the ReelClaw skill

    Open your product's repo and ask. Your agent shows you the brief, the hooks and the price of any new clip before it buys anything, then edits and renders the reels on your machine.

    prompt
    Make 3 UGC ads for this app with DansUGC ReelClaw. Use the demo in ./demo.mp4.

Any agent that supports remote HTTP MCP servers with OAuth and can run commands on your machine. The server brings the clips; the skill does the editing.

  1. 1

    Add the server URL

    Paste it wherever your client adds a remote MCP server.

    server url
    https://dansugc.com/mcp
  2. 2

    Or add it to a JSON config

    For clients that read an mcpServers list. There is no key to add: you log in when prompted.

    mcp.json
    {
      "mcpServers": {
        "dansugc": {
          "type": "http",
          "url": "https://dansugc.com/mcp"
        }
      }
    }
  3. 3

    Add the skill

    The ReelClaw skill works in any agent that reads skill folders. This asks which agents to install it for:

    terminal
    npx skills add dansugc/reelclaw/plugins/reelclaw/skills/reelclaw
  4. 4

Your machine needs

The skill edits and renders where your agent runs. Missing something? Your agent offers to install it.

  • Node.js 22+brew install node or nvm install 22
  • ffmpeg + ffprobebrew install ffmpeg or sudo apt install ffmpeg
  • yt-dlpOptional, only for TikTok/IG/YouTube links as inputs
check your setup
node --version && ffmpeg -version | head -n 1

The first render also downloads HyperFrames and a headless Chrome through npx, once.

Troubleshooting

I set DansUGC up earlier with an API key

The MCP server now uses browser login only, and API keys (dsk_…) are for the REST API. Remove the old server and reconnect: in Claude Code run this, then add the plugin (or the server without --header) and log in with /mcp. In Codex, delete bearer_token_env_var from [mcp_servers.dansugc] in ~/.codex/config.toml and run codex mcp login dansugc.

terminal
claude mcp remove dansugc
My agent says “Not logged in” or has no DansUGC tools

The server isn't authenticated yet. Claude Code: /mcp → plugin:reelclaw:dansugc → Authenticate. Codex: run codex mcp login dansugc, then start a new session.

My agent wants to render on DansUGC, or uses the reelclaw-ads skill

That's an older install. Rendering now happens on your machine with the reelclaw skill. Run your agent's install commands above again, then delete the old reelclaw-ads skill folder if one is left (for example ~/.agents/skills/reelclaw-ads). Elsewhere, reinstall the skill with:

terminal
npx skills add dansugc/reelclaw/plugins/reelclaw/skills/reelclaw
The first render is slow or fails

The first render downloads HyperFrames and a headless Chrome through npx, once. It needs Node 22 or newer; run the check above. If a render says it finished but text or animation is missing, ask the agent to read the RENDER WARNINGS it printed and fix them first.

How to edit

Open your repo and ask

Your agent is the editor. It does the legwork, stops wherever money or taste is involved, and renders everything on your machine.

  • Claude Code

    Use /reelclaw:new, or just ask for ads in plain words.

    claude code
    /reelclaw:new 10 ./demo.mp4 gen-z, deadpan
  • Codex

    Start with $reelclaw, or just ask. Open a new session after installing.

    codex
    $reelclaw Make 3 UGC ads for this app. Use the demo in ./demo.mp4.
  • Cursor, OpenCode, Gemini CLI & others

    Just ask. The skill loads itself when you mention UGC ads or ReelClaw.

    prompt
    Make 3 UGC ads for this app with DansUGC ReelClaw. Use the demo in ./demo.mp4.
  1. Reads your repo

    README, package.json, store listing and landing copy become a short brief: what it is, who it's for, the pain, the aha moment. It never invents claims, and it finds your demo recording.

    README · package.json · demo.mp4

  2. Suggests formats that went viral

    When you're not sure what to make, it shows formats that worked in your niche, with real examples and view counts. Free. It can also search TikTok and Instagram for more.

    reelclaw_suggest_formats · 0.02 credits/search

  3. Picks real creator reactions

    It shortlists clips from the DansUGC library and compares previews. Clips you own are free; for new ones you see the exact total and nothing is bought until you say yes.

    search_videos → purchase_videos

  4. Writes the hooks

    Lowercase, under 80 characters, about your users' real pain, with the emotion matched to the reaction. You see them in a table and can rewrite any of them.

    hook · format · emotion

  5. Edits and renders on your machine

    TikTok-native HyperFrames templates: the reaction with your hook, a hard cut into your demo, TikTok Sans captions inside the safe zone. A 15-second reel renders in about 30 seconds.

    npx reelclaw-templates · HyperFrames

  6. Checks its own frames

    It pulls frames from every render and looks at them: the font, the safe zone, hook timing, the cut, the audio. It fixes what's off and renders again before you ever see it.

    qa-frames · contact sheet

  7. Hands you the MP4s

    Finished 1080×1920 ads land in ./reelclaw-output/. Ask and it posts them to TikTok and Instagram through DansUGC Posting.

    reelclaw-output/ · create_post

Then edit like you'd brief an editor

Every reel stays an editable project in ./reelclaw-studio/. Ask for a change, the agent edits it, renders again and checks the new frames. Tap a prompt to copy it.
